Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: April 5, 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines what constitutes acceptable and prohibited use of the BabelWrap API, MCP server, website, dashboard, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.
This policy applies to all users, their AI agents, automated systems, and any software or processes that interact with the Service using their account or API credentials.
Violations of this policy may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.
2. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account, including:
- Actions performed by autonomous AI agents using your API credentials, even if those actions were not explicitly directed by you.
- Actions performed by any software, script, or system that authenticates with your API key.
- Actions performed by third parties who gain access to your API credentials, whether or not such access was authorized.
You must:
- Ensure that any autonomous agent using your API key is properly configured, monitored, and includes appropriate safeguards (such as rate controls and scope limitations).
- Have proper legal authorization to access every website you interact with through BabelWrap.
- Comply with the terms of service, robots.txt directives, and access policies of every third-party website you interact with through BabelWrap.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction and in the jurisdiction of any website you access.
3. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Service for any of the following purposes. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive — BabelWrap reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether any use violates this policy.
3.1 Illegal Activities
- Using the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation in any jurisdiction.
- Accessing websites, systems, or data without authorization, including unauthorized access under computer fraud and abuse laws (e.g., CFAA in the United States, Computer Misuse Act in the UK, or equivalent laws in other jurisdictions).
- Collecting, processing, or storing personal data in violation of applicable data protection and privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, or any other applicable privacy regulation.
- Scraping, extracting, or redistributing copyrighted content in violation of applicable intellectual property laws.
- Facilitating or engaging in fraud, identity theft, phishing, or financial crimes.
- Accessing, distributing, or facilitating access to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any illegal content.
- Engaging in activities that facilitate money laundering, terrorist financing, or sanctions evasion.
3.2 Harmful Automation
- Conducting denial-of-service attacks or intentionally overwhelming third-party websites with excessive requests.
- Credential stuffing, brute-force attacks, password cracking, or any form of unauthorized authentication attempts.
- Creating fake accounts, profiles, or identities on third-party websites.
- Automated purchasing where prohibited by law or the target website's terms (including but not limited to sneaker bots, ticket scalping bots, and limited-edition product bots).
- Manipulating voting systems, review platforms, rating systems, social media engagement metrics, or any other system where automated input is prohibited.
- Sending spam, unsolicited messages, or bulk communications through automated form submissions or messaging features.
- Harvesting email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact information for spam or unsolicited marketing.
- Engaging in click fraud, ad fraud, or any form of artificial traffic generation.
3.3 Abuse of the Service
- Attempting to circumvent BabelWrap's rate limits, usage limits, session limits, or billing mechanisms.
- Sharing, selling, or distributing API keys to unauthorized parties.
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits or other restrictions.
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling BabelWrap's proprietary software or systems, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Using the Service to build a competing product or service.
- Reselling, sublicensing, or providing access to the Service to third parties without BabelWrap's prior written authorization.
- Intentionally submitting malicious input designed to exploit vulnerabilities in BabelWrap or third-party systems (including prompt injection, code injection, or similar attacks).
3.4 Irresponsible Agent Deployment
- Deploying autonomous AI agents that use BabelWrap without adequate monitoring, logging, or the ability to quickly shut them down (kill switch).
- Permitting AI agents to make financial transactions, enter into contracts, submit legal documents, or take other irrevocable actions on third-party websites without real-time human oversight and approval.
- Allowing AI agents to interact with websites containing sensitive data (healthcare systems, financial institutions, government portals) without appropriate authorization, security safeguards, and compliance measures.
- Deploying agents that repeatedly and intentionally trigger bot detection or CAPTCHA systems on third-party websites.
- Running agents that systematically probe websites for vulnerabilities, security flaws, or misconfigurations without explicit written authorization from the website owner.
4. Rate Limiting and Fair Use
BabelWrap enforces rate limits to protect the Service and third-party websites:
- Free tier: 10 requests per minute.
- Usage-based plan: 500 requests per minute.
These limits exist to prevent abuse and protect both BabelWrap's infrastructure and the third-party websites accessed through the Service. Attempting to circumvent or evade rate limits by any means is prohibited.
BabelWrap reserves the right to impose additional rate limits or restrictions on accounts that generate excessive load, whether on BabelWrap's systems or on third-party websites, even if within the stated rate limits.
5. Monitoring and Enforcement
- BabelWrap logs all actions performed through the Service for billing, security, and abuse detection purposes.
- BabelWrap reserves the right to review action logs, session data, and usage patterns to investigate suspected violations of this policy.
- If we determine that a violation has occurred, we may take one or more of the following actions at our sole discretion:
- Issue a warning;
- Temporarily suspend your account;
- Permanently terminate your account without refund;
- Report the activity to relevant law enforcement authorities.
- BabelWrap is not obligated to monitor all usage and does not guarantee that violations will be detected or prevented. The absence of enforcement action does not constitute approval or permission for any use.
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any use of BabelWrap that violates this policy, please report it to founders@babelwrap.com.
For website owners: If you believe BabelWrap is being used to access your website without authorization or in violation of your terms of service, please contact us at founders@babelwrap.com with details of the activity. We take such reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
7. BabelWrap's Role and Liability
BabelWrap provides a technical tool that enables programmatic web interaction. BabelWrap does not direct, control, or actively monitor in real time which websites users access or how they use the Service.
BabelWrap is not liable for any user's violation of this policy, any third-party website's terms of service, or any applicable law. Users bear sole responsibility for their use of the Service as described in our Terms of Service.
This Acceptable Use Policy does not create any obligation for BabelWrap to monitor, filter, or restrict access to any particular website or category of content.
8. Changes to This Policy
BabelWrap reserves the right to modify this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via our website or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
